Ann Coulter defended calling President Barack Obama ‘the retard” during the third and final presidential debate, saying “screw them” to critics of her tweet, reports Huffington Post.

Speaking to Alan Colmes, who was banished to the barren wastelands of Fox News radio so he could no longer spread his liberal mumbo-jumbo on-air with Sean Hannity, Coulter said that “retard” is now a colloquialism to imply that someone is a “loser”:

“Look, no one would refer to a Down Syndrome child, someone with an actual mental handicap, by saying ‘retard.’ Where do you think the words ‘imbecile,’ ‘idiot,’ ‘moron,’ ‘cretin’ come from? These were all technical terms at one time. ‘Retard’ had been used colloquially to just mean ‘loser’ for 30 years,” Coulter insisted. “But no, no — these aggressive victims have to come out and tell you what words to use.”

John Franklin Stevens, 30, a Special Olympics athlete and global messenger who has Downs Syndrome, penned a brilliant and heartfelt blog in response to Coulter’s tweet, proving himself to be the more intelligent of the two:

“Come on Ms. Coulter, you aren’t dumb and you aren’t shallow.  So why are you continually using a word like the R-word as an insult?

I’m a 30 year old man with Down syndrome who has struggled with the public’s perception that an intellectual disability means that I am dumb and shallow.  I am not either of those things, but I do process information more slowly than the rest of you.  In fact it has taken me all day to figure out how to respond to your use of the R-word last night.”

Coulter’s classy response?

“It would be one thing if I said in my tweet a joke about Special Olympics, a joke about Down Syndrome,” she said. “No one would call someone with Down Syndrome ‘retard.’ I call you a ‘retard.'”

And to those critics, a.k.a the “word police” who would dare compare the word “ni**er” to “retard,” Coulter had the following to say:

“Oh, screw them,” she said. “That’s what they feel I do? I feel they’re being authoritarian bullying victims.”

Interesting.

So not only is Coulter falling back on that GOP standby code word — victim –, but she’s admitting that she’s a bully, or that she wishes she was feared enough to be considered a bully. In her world, it’s probably a compliment. Furthermore, “screw” whom exactly?

As previously reported by NewsOne, Sarah Palin has gone on record making the comparison when Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel used the word to describe a group of people. And in this particular case, Stephens also suggested that Coulter really wanted to hurl that “hateful word” at President Obama, but “recoiled from the backlash.”

So, that’s her response to the global messenger for the Special Olympics? “Screw” him for being an “aggressive victim.”

The winner of the “how low can you go” contest is clearly Ann Coulter.
